LUCTONIANS SOUTH AFRICA TOUR '11
Funding & Events

To tour South Africa is never cheap and each player will be expected to contribute a substantial amount of money that will fund the basics of their trip.

More importantly we want to raise additional funds to help with development and charitable work we intend to carry out.

Our tour games will be played in the disadvantaged and rural areas, and as such it is hoped that we are able to provide each of our hosts with a full playing kit.

We will be coaching in the Tag SA tag rugby project and we will be looking to supply each school we visit a Tag Rugby Start kit so the use of Tag Rugby in those schools becomes sustainable.

To help with the ‘Boots for All’ ethos we want to continue collecting and refurbishing old rugby and football boots; shipping them to South Africa so they arrive for us to deliver into the project when we arrive in Cape Town.

Boots for All

The ‘Boots for All’ project has been a huge inspiration for Luctonians and the fundamental reason why we chose South Africa as our Tour destination. We have been trying to help stop the financial discrimination that disadvantaged young South Africans experience when at the age of 14 years they stop playing in bare feet and have to find the funds to play in rugby boots. At 1000 rand a pair that is a bridge too far for the vast majority of young players.

We will be looking for people who can set up collecting projects and who can help with the movement and shipping of boots. Many of the boots will require new sets of studs and laces.
